IFPRI Senior Research Analyst / PBS Policy Team
Patricia Zambrano has a M.S. in economics, with emphasis in quantitative methods. She has worked on biotechnology for the past 11 years with a focus on ex-ante assessment of GM technologies in developing countries. Patricia has done PBS-related work in Kenya, Uganda, and Malawi. In addition, she has done non-PBS work in Colombia, Bolivia, and Burkina Faso. Patricia, with the collaboration of IFPRI colleagues, developed a web-based literature on the assessment of crop biotechnologies in developing countries and introduced the gender perspective into our assessment of modern biotechnologies. She is motivated by the opportunity to see promising technologies made available to resource-poor male and female farmers. Her most valued experience is the interaction with farmers in the field from whom she has had the opportunity to work with and learned the most.
